Field Project Manager

At Merchants & Co, we’ve spent 85 years perfecting the art of making complexity look effortless.  We don’t just install furniture—we discover, develop, design, and deliver big visions and small details that exceed expectations. We’re looking for a Field Project Manager who can do the same: lead boldly in the field, anticipate proactively what’s ahead, and communicate closely to all stakeholders.

The Role

This is not your typical Project Manager position. You’ll be the pulse of our projects on site—particularly across Colorado’s government and base facilities—ensuring that every detail lands with precision and professionalism. You’ll navigate between construction zones and conference calls with equal ease, bringing solutions before problems surface and keeping our clients (and our crews) in sync.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Field. Visit sites often, assess real-time conditions, and translate them into actionable plans that keep projects moving and risk at bay.
  • Coordinate the Team. Manage schedules, budgets, and resources between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.  Your responsibility is staying on time and within budget.
  • Lead with Communication. Pick up the phone, not just the inbox.  Proactively update stakeholders, connect with manufacturers, meet with installation partners to ensure a clean delivery.
  • Budget & Schedule Stewardship. Track labor quotes, installation timelines, and material flow with accuracy—and know when to pivot to protect margins and client trust.
  • Government Savvy. Build lasting relationships on-base and with public-sector partners. Understand the nuances of procurement, compliance, and chain-of-command communication.
  • Sales-Minded Execution. Recognize additional opportunities on site—new spaces, new contacts, new needs—and collaborate with our sales teams to expand Merchants’ footprint.
  • Close Strong. Partner with our Corrective Actions Coordinator to ensure punch lists are handled swiftly and clients walk away impressed (and ready for the next phase).

Who You Are

  • A Field Strategist. You see the big picture and the fine print—anticipating obstacles before they show up on site.
  • Resolution-Oriented. You don’t point fingers; you pick up the phone.
  • Agile & Unflappable. Comfortable managing multiple jobs, shifting priorities, and the occasional curveball from an order shortage to an unexpected stair carry .
  • Relational. You communicate comfortably at every level—from installers to manufacturers to contractors to architects to Air Force contracting officers.
  • Experienced. 3-5+ years of commercial project management (furniture, interiors, or construction). Experience on government or military projects preferred.
  • Security Clearance. Has a current Security Clearance or the ability to pass government and military security clearance.
  • Educated. Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent experience.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary | $65,000–$85,000 + bonus opportunity
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • Company vehicle stipend for site travel
  • A culture that values autonomy, accountability, and hospitality

Where You’ll Work

Primarily based in Colorado Springs, with frequent field travel throughout the state (Denver showroom and warehouse support included).
